A Brief Introduction of MBBS in Russia

The MBBS in Russia is a 6 years degree, mainly provided as a bachelor’s degree in general medicine. It is becoming an alternative for all aspiring doctors who have been unable to get admission to a good Indian medical school in recent years. More than 53 Russian universities that offer MBBS degrees have been approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC) to enable you to complete MBBS abroad and practice in India.

  1. According to NMC (National Medical Commission) regulations, all students who want to study MBBS abroad must meet the NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) exam qualifications.
  2. You do not need to take language tests such as TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Test System) or entrance exams to enter most Russian universities.
  3. Graduates must pass the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) to obtain a Russian MBBS degree in India legally.
  4. The sum of CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) or ISC (Indian School Certificate) 12th results should be at least 50% in PCB (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) or higher.

Due to COVID-19, all courses are currently conducted online, but universities still accept applications for new courses. Russia has been increasing the learning destination ladder for medical aspirants, because according to the WHO (World Health Organization) ranking, Russia occupies about 30 positions in the top 100 medical schools. In addition, the lowest fees enable students to realize their dream of studying abroad at an affordable cost.

Why Study MBBS in Russia?

Some of the best reasons to attract international students are given below –

  1. The tuition fee of MBBS in Russia is much lower than that of other countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada.
  2. India and Russia’s economic levels are almost the same as the value of 1 Russian ruble, which is approximately equal to 0.99 INR. Therefore, accommodation and other expenses are almost the same as in India.
  3. The admission process is also very simple. Students do not need to take any other national exams, such as the MCAT (Medical College Admission Test), to study MBBS in Russia if they are an Indian student.
  4. No language proficiency test scores, such as IELTS (International English Language Test System) or TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) are required for admission. This also saves the cost of such tests.
  5. The curriculum of the Russian medical schools such as Kursk State Medical University (KSMU) is similar to that of the Indian medical school. Therefore, students can return to India to continue their studies without any additional guidance.
  6. Most universities in Russia are recognized by NMC (National Medical Commission) and WHO (World Health Organization). Therefore, graduates can practice in India after passing the screening test.
  7. Most Russian universities have counseling centres to prepare Indian students for the NMC (National Medical Commission) screening test.
  8. If a student is admitted to a Russian university and submits all documents correctly, there is a 100% student visa guarantee.

Admission Process for MBBS in Russia

The admission procedures for Indian students in Russian universities are very simplified. Anyone with a high school certificate in compulsory subjects in biology and chemistry can apply. Some universities do not even have a minimum percentage requirement. Therefore, when planning to study abroad, Russia is an excellent choice for studying for an MBBS degree.

Students may have to take entrance exams for some Russian universities to enter the MBBS program. However, they are not as competitive as other medical tests such as NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) and MCAT (Medical College Admission Test). The test questions are designed to check the students’ basic knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, and English.
